Read MoreWe teach, mentor, and empower each other to be dedicated apprentices/followers of Jesus. We want to know God and walk in His way for His purposes and glory. Like Jesus and His disciples, we eat, pray, serve, and celebrate together inviting others to do the same.
We steer away from self-promotion and towards Jesus promotion! We serve His mission, His creation, His family, in His way. We choose to humble ourselves before God and each other in community.
We can’t do it alone. We are aware of the necessity of being connected together and relying on one another. Like Jesus and His disciples we share life, we eat, pray, serve, and celebrate together inviting others to do the same. Do life together. Seriously, do it!
We try to keep an attitude of awareness and dependence on the Holy Spirit, knowing nothing happens by accident or on its own. We intentionally ask God who should serve and train where, and how to go about doing it. We choose to trust God and abide.
We set expectations and responsibilities upfront when it comes to who is doing what, when, where, and how. Who’s bringing the coffee? Who’s leading the discussion? Who’s following up with the new guy or gal who came last week? Where are we meeting? We choose to have courage and grace, and clarify responsibilities and expectations within teams and relationships when necessary.
We honour and encourage each other, celebrating everyone who uses their time, money, gifts and talents (large or small) to serve God’s kingdom. We will be quick to listen, slow to judge, and thoughtful in our responses. We will be gracious and gentle towards group members with different spiritual maturity, personal opinions, temperament, or “imperfections.” And if/when disagreements or conflict arise, we will be quick to seek forgiveness and reconciliation, extend grace, share truth, and love one another unconditionally.
We stay on mission to to show & share the kindness of Jesus, bless the city, dress the poor, and start other (house) churches who do the same. We live to make new disciples (or “apprentices”), hoping all come to know God, walk with the Holy Spirit, and become progressively more like Jesus.
